The gods are a special classification of spirit. They can be an animal, lesser, or remain spirit. However, in order for a spirit to become a god they must be worshiped and paid tribute to for many years. Devotion turns into spiritual energy that is transferred into a worshiped spirit. Over time, the energy gathers until the spirit earns the heaven affinity. Gods are either the gods of natural occurrences such as rain, or natural monuments such as a waterfall, a tree, etc. Based on regional differences, there can be different gods for the same natural occurrence. Gods can breed with anyone except for remains. Children of gods that are born of mortals are usually oracles or chakra phoenixes. Gods are not immortal, omnipresent, or omniscient.


ANIMAL SPIRITS,[/i]
Animal spirits are animals with strong spiritual power. Animal spirits can be anything from a mythical creature such as a dragon to a common creature such as a house cat. Many animal spirits are hunted for their powers and their beauty. The hides of animal spirits are said to contain tremendous good luck and power, and hence they are the number one targets of the god slayers. They are usually much larger than normal animals of their same species. Animal spirits can only breed with gods and other animal spirits of the same species as them. For instance, a tiger spirit and a kappa cannot breed unless one of them is a god.


LESSER SPIRITS,[/i]
Lesser spirits are not less powerful than animal spirits, but rather they are lower than animal spirits in the hierarchy of the spirit world. Lesser spirits are creatures that can be demons, plants, or non-living things that have come alive. They tend to trick and manipulate humans to pass the time. Lesser spirits can only breed with lesser spirits of the same species as them, unless one of them is a god.


REMAINS,[/i]
Remains are the spirits of mortals who have not passed on and instead haunt the world. Remains can be ghosts or vengeful spirits that have turned into monsters. The vengeful spirits usually haunt one area, and they are very lonely spirits who kill mortals in order to be joined in death. Remains cannot breed unless they become a god.


MORTALS,[/i]
Mortals are the most common creature in all of Tenka Ikka. They have varied appearances, and they can have many different hair and eye colors based on their elemental affinity. For example, blue is a natural hair color for those with a water affinity, etc. However, only mortals that are oracles have golden eyes. Mortals have a great amount of spiritual energy, but the majority of them do not know how to tap into that energy the way that spirits do. That is why offering their devotion to a spirit creates the heaven affinity; they are channeling their energy into a strong emotion and giving it to the spirit.

The majority of mortals do not officially know that spirits actually exist. Most believe in spirits, but gods and spirits do not casually reveal themselves to mortals. The only mortals who are aware of the existence of the spirit world are oracles, god slayers, and awakened chakra phoenixes. While many priests and priestesses strongly believe in the spirits, most of them cannot see the spirits.

You cannot join a mortal who has the ability to see the spirits in their true form unless they are an oracle or chakra phoenix. [/blockquote][/blockquote]

Most bakus only eat nightmares, as they find them the most flavorful, but they also eat good dreams. In their animal form they are usually mistaken for a tapir. However, they have longer, more dexterous snouts and tiger-like claws. THE MEMORY EATERS,

Memory eaters are remains who sacrificed ten people they wanted to forget. Unlike other remains, the mortals that become memory eaters do not die. Rather, their soul was transformed from mortal to something more monstrous. Upon the tenth sacrifice, they gain the ability to steal the memory of others and eat them. They do this by placing their hand on the person’s head, picking out the memory, and then eating it as it turns into the shape of a ball in their hand. The person will completely forget the memory, and they will never remember their encounter with the memory eater either. A memory eater can also eat someone’s entire memory bank. When this happens to a mortal, it makes the mortal disappear as if they never existed. People who knew the mortal will forget that they ever existed. Spirits, however, will remember the mortal. Spirits who have their entire memory eaten will not disappear, but they will have amnesia. When a memory eater is killed, the memories that they have eaten are not restored.


THE REAPERS,[/i]
Reapers are a type of remain that help other spirits pass on to the spirit world. They wear dark cloaks and carry scythes in order to protect their charges from harmful spirits and exorcists. They can sense when someone is about to die, and so they wait with the person during their final days. Reapers are not allowed to save people from death; if they do, they will be destroyed by another reaper for upsetting the balance of nature. A mortal becomes a reaper when they die protecting someone they love. Their scythe is an extension of their spiritual energy, and the powers of their scythe vary depending on how strong the reaper is.


VERMILIONS,[/i]
Vermilions, or vermilion birds, are bird spirits with an affinity to fire. They are similar to the phoenix in appearance, as they have chimerical attributes, but vermilions are shades of red with tints of orange and always have an affinity to fire. Vermilions burst into flames and are reborn from the ashes; this act of bursting into flames is known as a combustion period. Combustion periods vary from vermilion to vermilion Some vermilions have shorter combustion periods than others. It is undetermined whether combustion periods are determined by genetics, but it is known that they are not determined by the amount of power the vermilion has. The average combustion period is fifty years.


ORACLES,[/i]
An oracle is a human born with the heaven affinity in addition to their common affinity. The heaven affinity allows them to channel the spirit world through their element, which in turn opens up a line of communication that gives them insight into how the spirits will affect the mortal world. Oracles can also see spirits everywhere, and they can sense the emotions of others if they have the same affinity as them. If an oracle lies or uses their powers for personal gain they will lose their power. All oracles have golden eyes. When they lose their power their eyes will become a different color. CHAKRA PHOENIXES,[/i]
A chakra phoenix is a mortal that is born with the heaven affinity and no common affinity. Their spiritual energy is pure and very powerful, which makes them very desirable among spirits as foods and weapons. Since they have no other affinity, they can tap into all the common and other spirit affinities as well as access the spirit world. Most chakra phoenixes do not realize that they are chakra phoenixes; only oracles and gods can sense a chakra phoenix. Mortals don’t believe in chakra phoenixes, and spirits can only tell someone is a chakra phoenix if they witness. Many chakra phoenixes go through their life believing they have a common affinity.
