THEIR STORY: Kanda is the youngest to a Yanwon priestess of the golden hawk god, a lesser spirit of a statue that became a god after it was worshiped for centuries. That same god happens to be the twins' father, and they grew up in the temple worshiped for their golden hair and eyes. Sajagulian soldiers later destroyed the temple, as it was decreed that Yanwons must only worship the dragon god Wei and the phoenix goddess Syu Ri. Their mother tried to stop the soldiers from melting down the statue of her lover, but she was killed for her interference. With no home to speak of, the twins were moved to the temple of Syu Ri where they became the house oracles.
Unlike her twin brother Kiet, Kanda was always more open and a people person. She was the more beloved and spoiled of the twins, though Kiet was always the most clever. She was always happy to help solve the problems of the people. However, her specialty was improving the relationships between spirits and humans.Because Kanda's ability allowed her to detach her soul from her body, she was able to travel between the mortal and spirit world.
One day Kanda heard from a gumiho that the phoenix goddess Syu Ri was gone. When Kanda asked the gumiho where she went the gumiho only spoke in riddles about Syu Ri's location. Kanda was able to solve the gumiho's riddles, and followed the gumiho's servant - a small golden monkey - to the cage of the phoenix. The phoenix was in a powerless, depressed state when Kanda got to her. Kanda promised her that she'd free her, but Syu Ri was so withdrawn from her long imprisonment that she asked Kanda what kind of future that would bring her.
Kanda touched the bars to Syu Ri's cage and saw a dark future ahead, with the dragon as her husband and Yanwo completely part of Sajagul. This vision frightened Kanda, but the defeated look on Syu Ri's face frightened her more. So Kanda, on impulse, did what she felt she had to do: she lied to Syu Ri, saying that she would return to glory and that she was the only one who could stop the dragon god of Sajagul. She said she saw the country of Yanwo restored, and that Syu Ri's freedom would give people strength. Kanda knew what the lie meant, but losing her abilities as an oracle was far less important to her than giving her goddess hope. Syu Ri gained hope in Kanda's words, and Kanda - with the help of the monkey - freed Syu Ri from her cage.
Kanda and Syu Ri then snuck into the lair of the dragon god, where he kept all of his treasures. Kanda tricked the guard into falling asleep by making him eat a special rice cake. They found Syu Ri's special item locked inside a small orb and stole it from his keep. Wei knew the moment it was taken, and sent memory eaters under his command after the two women. Syu Ri was to be retrieved, and part of her memory erased so that he could start brain washing her into thinking that they had always been lovers. Kanda was to be erased completely.
The memory eaters caught up with Syu Ri and Kanda. Kanda was pinned down by the head memory eater while the phoenix was being dragged away in spite of putting up a bold fight. With all the strength she had left, Kanda threw down the orb that contained Syu Ri's item. That created a burst of energy that returned some of Syu Ri's powers to her, making her able to shake off the memory eaters and transfer herself to the mortal realm. Kanda was left in the spirit world, pinned down by her memory eater. However, when her last memory came her memory eater could not finish. The memory eater found he had fallen for her by seeing the kind of person she was through the memories he had eaten.
Instead of erasing her completely, he decided to leave her with his existence. He didn't think she'd be a threat to anyone without her memory, and he lied to the dragon god saying that she was gone.
After Kanda awoke, she had no idea who or where she was. She wanders the spirit world looking for her home, wherever that may be. Mean while, her body lays in comatose back at the temple. The priests and priestesses say she's gone in 'seclusion', but rumors are spreading that she's gravely ill, pregnant, or possibly dead.
