THEIR STORY: Seimei was born the son of Yanwo’s merchant, but what snippets he has of that brief life are too grainy to even rightfully call them memories. War tore the countryside apart as the Sajagul forces pressed further into their lands. In spite of the country’s best efforts their opponents laid siege to many of their most critical routes that shipped supplies to the forces of Yanwo, severely hindering the native armies and crippling their efforts. The opposition swiftly took advantage of the duress and did not rest until they had entered the capital and were positioning themselves to completely overtake the emperor’s palace.
With no other choice left to them they fled Yanwo and into the province of Kiba. They narrowly escaped the suspicious eyes of the Sajagul but managed to cross the border into the neighboring land and to relative safety. Seimei was too young to remember fleeing for his life but he does remember his mother’s almost constant crying as they purchased a plot of farmland to grow food and raise animals.
Their life there was never ideal. Because they were situated so close to the border there were often times when the Sajagul forces would harass any they came across, especially those who did not agree with their rule. Their reign of terror coupled with the presence of displaced Yanwo refugee's who turned to violent and heinous crimes to survive, forced the family to otherwise isolate themselves on their land in order to protect it. Seimei grew up defending his home with little more than farm tools until he was twelve and allowed to learn to wield a blade.
As he grew older and more brazen for his own good, he made the mistake of picking a fight with a Sajagul platoon - though, to his credit, they had killed one of his dogs out of spite. He fought them with all he had but overextended himself by taking on three opponents at once. He would have been killed had a 'wandering swordsman' not caught sight of the spectacle and loaned his assistance. That man turned out to be a member of the Red Blades however he had no intention of taking the youth with him despite his begging.
Seimei left a note to his family a little while after meeting the swordsman and quickly set to following the mans trail - he was caught of course but he managed a good distance without being noticed. The boy more or less harassed his way into becoming a member.
